Digital Platform Companies and Standards of “Good Labour“ – a Comparison of Digital Workers in Germany and the USA
In contrast to the huge interest in employees in digital platforms, there is a gap in this field of research. To attract attention to this new phenomenon and its characteristics, loaded terms like crowdwork, cloudwork or digital nomads are used.
Initial analyses show that an interrelationship of platform companies, suppliers and regulators is developing on digital platforms (Kirchner & Beyer, 2016). Based on these considerations the following research questions arise:
- Which new labour standards are developing for digital workers? The interrelationship of digital workers, digital platforms and regulators leads to another question:
- How are these new labour standards negotiated between digital platforms and digital workers?
This project compares the situation in two countries to identify the mechanisms of digital labour.
