Self-employment is not systematically included in Germany's social security system. The conference "Social Security for the Self-Employed" addressed the topic from an interdisciplinary and international perspective, with a focus on the field of platform-supported work. The conference proceedings combine insights into self-employment as a form of work and employment, protection against life risks and changes in self-employment with a comparison of social security for the self-employed in other countries. It marks a need for legal policy action.
