Negotiation and Realisation of Standards of Occupational Safety and Health: The European Working Time Directive
Through increasing flexibility and technological advancements regulations of working time will become very important, but will face more and more problems as well. The European Working Time Directive – which is highly discussed within the European context – and corresponding national laws like the German Working Time Act serve as a basis. Health and safety laws define general minimum levels, but the Working Time Law opens room for negotiation on an individual and collective level. Empirically, many questions arise regarding formation and content of standards in a European context.
